The Bahamas: An Exotic Tropical Paradise

If you are looking for a tropical paradise vacation, far away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, the Bahamas are the perfect answer. Only 50 miles off of the Florida coast, the Bahamas make the perfect getaway. The Bahamas are made up of many islands, each of which is simply stunning.

The Bahamas are a delight to the connoisseur of water sports. Sailing is one of the most popular warm water activities offered at the islands. Numerous sailing regattas and festivals draw large a large number of water sports lovers to these islands. Additionally, water sports such as wind surfing, parasailing and kayaking are readily on offer.

The other major tourist attraction is the myriad collection of underwater world of reefs and colorful fish life. A visit to the Bahamas is incomplete without snorkeling and scuba diving to feast the eyes with a collectors delight of about 5% of the world's reefs and the amazing colored fish.

The people are warm and friendly. They love to share their special culture, heritage and laid-back life style with all who pay them a visit. Some of you may have heard of locations in the Caribbean islands where you won't be welcomed. The opposite is true in the Bahamas, where tourists are treated like royalty.

You will find a rich and varied marine life, complete with the whales and dolphins calling this place home. The wildlife on land is also exciting and diverse. If you don't care for water, no problem, as there are plenty of land activities for you to enjoy. Cricket is popular in many areas of the world, and Nassau is one of its prime locations. You can stay in resorts offering cricket matches planned just for you and your fellow guests. You can also just find games to watch when you're in the mood.

The other two popular sports are golf and tennis. The islands have many beautiful golf courses that cater to beginners as well as professionals. To maintain a high level of sporting interest, a number of world class tournaments are held here every year.

Don't worry if you'd rather just kick back and relax. There are endless white sandy beaches, and some that are actually pink. You'll find sun year-round, along with turquoise water and graceful palm trees swaying in the breeze. Be sure and pack your sunscreen, as many people don't realize how hot the Caribbean sun really is in the islands. If you don't take care, you might get a nasty sunburn.

The Bahamas are a shoppers paradise. The islands are a confluence shops and malls that offer various souvenirs as well as opportunity for high-end shopping. The beauty is the prices that are so competitive that a trip to the shops really makes it worth your while.

Local cuisine is divine in the Bahamas. If you enjoy seafood you will appreciate the delicious culinary delights these small islands have to offer. The food is spicy and lively. While visiting the islands be sure to try some of the many ways conch meat is prepared since this is one of the islands specialty.

The Bahamas make a wonderful vacation destination where you can do just about anything your heart desires. The weather is almost always perfect and the water warm and pleasant.
