Kings Park & Botanic Gardens

The Kings Park in Perth offers a tranquil respite away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

The 400 hectare hilltop park of botanic gardens and bush land promises to deliver the unique western Australian flora, an experience of the bush land solitude, hike trails, as well as gardens

of orchids, kangaroo paw, banksias and other wild flowers.

Getting Here:

Address: Fraser Avenue, West Perth, Perth. Bus: Bus No. 33 stops outside the Information Kiosk and extends into the park on Saturday afternoon, Sunday & public holidays. Red CAT Stop 25 (Havelock St.) is 1 block north of the gates.

 


Perth Zoo

This zoo houses more than 230 species of animals in a fabulous display of their natural

environment showcases various types of Aussie wildlife, mostly housed in natural habitats,

or in a walk-through aviary. There are plenty of exotic animals, which mainly include      orangutans, Rothschild's giraffes, zebras, lions, rhinos, and elephants.

Two areas have been set aside for the comfort and convenience of smokers.    With the exception of these areas, the Zoo is strictly NO SMOKING.

Address: 20 Labouchere Road, Perth 6151. Bus: No. 30, 31, 730 and 731.      Ferry: Ferries run half-hourly from the Barrack Street Jetty; the Zoo is a short  walk from the Mends Street Jetty.

 


Aquarium of Western Australia (AQWA)

Aquarium of Western Australia offers a journey to through many of the marine environments

found in Western Australia. Visit the mangrove forests of the tropical north and the granite

shores of the southern regions. Whether it is the thrill of the Touch Pool or the view of a

feeding frenzy, a day at the Aquarium of Western Australia will be action-packed.

Art Gallery of Western Australia

The Western Australian Art Galley houses a mix of indigenous, historical and contemporary

works of art. The Gallery features a number of permanent and rotating displays, and regularly

 hosts traveling and special exhibitions. Founded in 1895, the gallery is home to nineteenth

century paintings, Art Nouveau, and art from and pertaining to Western Australia.

A walking frame, manual wheelchairs plus an electric buggy are available for visitor's use. These are provided free of charge from the Gallery Reception.

Getting Here:

Address: Perth Cultural Centre, Perth WA 6000. By Foot: Entry from the CBD     via the City Station and Roe Street pedestrian overpass, from Barrack Street     via the James Street Mall or William Street.

 


The Swan Bells

This tower features fascinating antique bells and timepieces collection including the 12 bells of

St Martin-in-the Fields, which have existed before the 14th century and were recast in the 16th century by Queen Elizabeth I. Bell ringing demonstrations are also conducted where visitors

have the opportunity to ring the bells. There is also a viewing gallery where visitors are able          to enjoy the scenic view of the Swan River.

Children under 12 years must be accompanied by an adult. Accessible facilities available. For safety reasons, a maximum of 100 people is permitted in the tower at any one time. Flat, closed shoes must be worn for access to the observation deck. Smoking is not permitted in the tower or observation deck of the tower
