International Festival    of Fantastic Film

Horror, fantasy and all that's creepy and strange get their day in the sun in this unusual film festival dedicated to the strange.

 

The Baroque Spring of the Sablon

For a few days, the area around the Place du Grand Sablon becomes a gigantic music hall for performances of music from the baroque period.

 

Brussels Jazz Marathon

1 - 31 May

Local and international jazz musicians take over the city for a weekend and fill the air with the sweet sounds of jazz during this popular festival.

 

Fête de la Musique

21 June

A very European tradition, this annual summer event takes over the heart of Brussels for a few days as performers from every musical genre imaginable throw concerts in various venues around the city.

 

Ommegang Pageant

1 - 3 July

A major annual event since 1549, this huge 'walk-about' draws everyone who's anyone into the city for a day of heritage celebration and fun.

 

Belgium's National Day

21 July

If you're anywhere near Brussels on this day, don't miss the national day celebrations and the massive fireworks display near the Royal Palace!

Still more music, this time with all the parks and squares of Brussels's city centre serving as huge green concert halls.

 

Brussels Beer Weekend

1 - 30 September

No country adores the beer more than Belgium and on this weekend, over 30 breweries present their best offerings at Grand Place to a very appreciative public.

 

Brussels Marathon

For the fit and the willing, this is a grand - if somewhat unusual - way to take the scenic route around Brussel's city centre. Don't forget there'll be thousands of onlookers cheering you on along the route!

 

Les Nuits Botanique

1 April - 31 May

This festival of rock and roll, reggae and contemporary music plays at the former botanic garden, now a cultural centre for the French speaking community. Beneath the impressive dome of the Rotunda, rock beats reverberate, electro vibes vibrate, and French lyrics are styled in a class of their own. 

 

Lesbian & Gay Pride Day

1 - 31 May

Lesbian and Gay Pride Day in Brussels featuring a street party, with bars, stalls, music, and entertainment in the Bourse area, a parade through the streets of the city centre, beginning and ending at Boulevard Anspach, the Pride show and concert and the Pride Party.

 

Zinneke Parade

1 - 31 May

The multicultural communities of Brussels come together in the middle of the city on this day of colourful, exuberant celebration and also an artistic and social experiment which aims to combat inequality and to form a project in which everyone can participate

 

Kunsten Festival des Arts

1 - 31 May

The scope of the festival embraces theatre, music, dance, film, visual arts and all imaginable combinations thereof. The festival also invites a good number of performing arts companies from abroad as a platform for expression before an attentive and generous audience.

European Christmas Market
