Beijing Longqing Gorge Ice & Snow Festival

This three day ice festival held north of the capital city draws thousands of locals and visitors who try their hand at the numerous winter sports, watch the fireworks or take part in the many other activities available.

Nine-Dragon Cup International Dragon Boat Festival

A much grander version of the traditional dragon boat races held wherever Chinese communities have developed, international dragon boat teams deck it out for the honor of winning the prestigious prize in the country which started the whole trend.

 

Beijing 2008 Olympic Games

Beijing was elected the Host City for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad in 2008.

Beijing was elected the Host City for the Paralympic Games in 2008.
