Well-loved by the populace, Queen Margarethe makes an appearance (or three) at the public balcony on this day, to the cheers and encores of the crowd.

 

Whitsun Carnival

26 - 28 May

A simple street party turned major carnival, this is one of the city's most popular events, with over 100,000 people turning up for the processions, the tent parties, the dances and other merriment. There are also kid-friendly events, so bring the family along!

 

Copenhagen Historic Grand Prix

4 - 5 August

Vintage cars and their hordes of admirers take to the streets of the city during this event, held mainly around Copenhagen's largest park, Fælledparken.

 

Cultural Harbour

3 - 5 August

Cultural and sports events held around the picturesque Copenhagen Harbour are the main draws of this 4 day event, as everything from volleyball tournaments to experimental theatre are staged during the festival.

 

Little Mermaid's Birthday

23 August

As one of the famous women of Copenhagen, it's only fitting the Little Mermaid has her own birthday celebration, Join the crowds of well-wishers who come to sing Happy Birthday, release balloons and of course, watch the water show held every year almost right next to the birthday girl!

 

Christiania's Birthday

26 September

The famously independent enclave celebrates its founding on this day, with plenty of parties going on til dawn in the night spots, bars and other entertainment venues.

Night of Culture
