The Thermal Baths
Built atop the Roman Baths
of Sextius, the baths gave the town its name Aix, which is identified
as Aix en Provence to differentiate it from several other towns in
France built around hot springs. The present baths were built about
1705, and remnants of the original bath still remain.

Cathedrale St. Sauveur
The Cathedral features
a Gothic-style portal, and an unfinished tower. The elaborate doorways
and collection of tapestries are of noteworthy interest.

Musee des Tapisseries
Housed in a former
Archbishop’s residence. Three series of tapestries form the core of the
collection, which also includes furnishings from the 17th and 18th
Centuries.

Hotel de Ville
The town hall is built in a
classical style and dates from the 17th Century. The pediment of the
town hall has some interesting sculpture and a sundial. An ornate clock
tower built in 1505 complements the Hotel.

Atelier Cezanne
Famed painter Paul Cezanne
died in 1906; his studio remains much as it was then today, with his
coat on the wall and an unfinished work on the easel.

Cours Mirabeau
Sidewalk cafes along the square
make for ideal meeting places in the pleasant Provencal climate.
