Mont Blanc
The second highest mountain
in Europe is the main reason why visitors come to Chamonix. Standing
over sixteen thousand feet tall, the views from the summit are
understandably spectacular, and the cable car ride to the top is an
adventure in itself. You can also hike most of the way up.

Vallee Blanche
One of the most popular and beautiful ski areas in the region, this is a
popular place for many European skiers looking to avoid the more crowded
ski slopes of Switzerland or Austria.

Mer de Glace
This glacier is probably the
second most popular attraction in Chamonix, as it is the largest and highest
in France, stretching 7 kms long and 200 metres deep. The best way to reach
it is to take the Montenvers funicular railway, which is itself a pleasant
experience, as the trip up offers some lovely views. Once to the glacier,
visitors can visit the glacier itself, stop in the ice grotto inside the
glacier itself, and even eat in the restaurant with its view of the ice.
