More Info:

Handicapped persons and those accompanying them are offered a reduced entrance fee upon presentation of their handicapped card. However, for security reasons, the top of the Eiffel Tower is not accessible to persons in wheelchairs, nor physically disabled.

Basilica of the Sacred Heart (Sacre Coeur)

Often praised as one of the most beautiful churches in the world, the Sacred Heart also contains

one of the world's largest mosaics. From the top of the Dome, you can see up to 30 kilometres

of panoramic view, on a clear day.

Church of the Invalides

Graves of the famous military leaders of France, from Napoleon to Foch from the First World War, make this the primary military memorial of France. Most of the complex today houses a large military museum, the Musé de l'Armée; it is one of the largest military museums in the world.

 


L'Arc de Triomphe

Commissioned by Napoleon I as a monument to his military might, this is the largest triumphal

arch in the world.

The Arch is most easily (and safely) reached by tunnel from the north side of   the Champs Elysées.

Notre Dame Cathedral

The most historic church building in the city. Climb to the towers for a glimpse of the gargoyles

and for wonderful views of Paris.

 


Musee d'Orsay

The national art collection from the mid-19th century to the early 20th century occupies this

former railway station. Home to Impressionist paintings and those from periods immediately

before and after.

Louvre

Often considered THE greatest museum on earth, not least for being the home of the incomparable Mona Lisa. The massive collection includes ancient artefacts, important works from all parts of Europe and works by major French artists up until the mid-19th century.

Monday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 9:45 p.m.; Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Friday, 9 a.m. to 9:45 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Sunday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The museum is closed on Tuesdays and some public holidays.

Pricing:

Tickets for the Permanent Collections: EUR 8.50 (valid also for the Musée Eugène Delacroix). From 6 p.m. to 9:45 p.m, tickets are EUR 6. Extra charge for exhibitions in the Hall Napoléon.

Getting Here:

Palais-Royal-Musée du Louvre station. The following  bus lines stop in front of the Pyramid: 21, 24, 27, 39, 48, 68, 69, 72, 81, 95, and the Paris Open Tour bus.

 


Versailles

Take a trip outside Paris to see the great palace complex of Louis XIV. Built to showcase the

might of the French Empire, the sheer grandeur and majesty of the palace can only really be appreciated in person. Try to go early in the mornings, when there are less crowds.

Open Tuesdays to Sundays, closed on Mondays and some French public holidays. 1 November to 31 March: 9am to 5.30pm (last admission 5 pm) 1 April - 31 October: 9am to 6.30pm (last admission 6pm).

Palace: Age 18 and over: EUR 8. After 3.30pm, EUR 6. School pupils, under age 18 and disabled: free. Gardens free except on Grandes Eaux Musicales days.

Pompidou Centre

The world-famous centre for contemporary arts, it is particularly known for its architecture,

which still ranks among the most creative of the 20th Century. Look out for the colourful fountain

of lips and spraying machines!

Every day from 11am to 10pm, except Tuesdays and May 1. No ticket sales after 8pm, halls close at 8.50pm.

Regular ticket: EUR 10. Free entrance for under 18s, members, disabled visitors, unemployed people. Free for all visitors on the first Sunday of the month.
