Schwaebisch Hall: Things To See & Do

Market Square (Marktplatz)
The central square
of Schwaebisch Hall is often considered on of the most beautiful
in Germany, with its half-timbered houses, central fountain and
elegant Rathaus making it look like a scene from a fairy tale.
The square is a popular meeting point for the locals, and the
site of many of the city's major annual celebrations.

St Michael's
Church (Michaelskirche)
At the north end of
the Marktplatz, up a flight of of 54 broad steps, stands the
city's most famous Church. Consecrated in 1156, it has undergone
many changes over the centuries and now sports a 15th century
shell, with a 12 century tower.

The Old Town (Altstadt)
Charmingly rustic
and atmospheric, this is one of the best preserve Old Town
districts in Southern Germany, with many of the lanes, houses,
towers and even the bridges dating to as far back as the Middle
Ages.

Colmberg Castle
Located about 10
minutes outside Schwaebisch Hall, this rather charming castle is
ancient, with mention of it being recorded in the city annals as
far back as 1269. Nowadays, it is open to the public for
overnight stays, conferences, and even a medieval banquet.
