Schlossplatz and Neues Schloss

The main town square with its new palace was built in 1746 after the French fashion. The square is dominated by the Jubilee Column, built in 1841 to commemorate the silver jubilee of King Wilhelm I.

Zoo and botanical gardens. Features species of both animals and plants from all climate regions of the world, and boasts a large walk-in aviary.

This was the original seat of the noble Hohenzollern Family, which eventually came to be the royal family of Germany.
