The Palace of Knossos
This Minoan palace is a
world renowned archaeological site, and is one of the must-see
attractions on Crete. Built around 2000 BC, at its height it was an
opulent four-storey building sprawled around a central court, until a
cataclysmic earthquake destroyed the palace and much of the Minoan
civilization. Though mostly in ruins today, the palace is still a
stirring sight.

Phaistos
Lless famous than the Palace
of Knossos but almost as important in archaeological terms, this
magnificent palace complex is for many even more spectacular than the
other palace, from the huge gateway into the complex to the great court.
Also another must-see if you spend any time at all on Crete.
