The Taj Mahal

This infamous building was built by Shah Jehan in memory of his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal, who was also buried here. This majestic beauty is a work of art in itself, with intricate details, ornate deco and an overwhelming facade that are guaranteed to take your breath away.

The Agra Fort

It was here where Shah Jehan, having been imprisoned by his own son Aurangzeb, had spent his last days gazing out of the fort's window at Taj Mahal, the majestic mausoleum he had built for his late wife. This powerful fortress of red sandstone encompasses, within its 2.5-km-long enclosure walls, the imperial city of the Mughal rulers.

Akbar's Mausoleum

The Mausoleum of Akbar the Great is built in red sandstone marble, with a mixture of Hindu and Islamic design elements. The complex consists of two buildings, one being the mausoleum and the other a gigantic gate, connected to each other via a wide paved walkway.

Fatehpur Sikri (City of Victory)

Built during the second half of the 16th century by the Emperor Akbar, Fatehpur Sikri was the capital of the Mughal Empire for only some 10 years. The complex of monuments and temples, all in a uniform architectural style, includes one of the largest mosques in India, the Jama Masjid. It remained untouched for over 400 years now and its palaces are a remainder of the extravagance of the Mughals.
