Dublin Castle

Once the bastion of British rule, the Irish celebrated the final departure of the British army in

1922, and the Republic of Ireland has held sway since over one of the oldest buildings in the city.

Temple Bar

Fittingly known as the Cultural District of Dublin, this area brims over with some of the city's

 most vibrant entertainment options, with everything from experimental theatres to book cafes packed in barely 28 acres of highly eclectic space.

 


Grafton Street

This is the main shopping street of the city. Landmarks include Weirs, a leading jeweller and  

the Brown Thomas Departmental Store. Nearby shopping is available at the Castlemarket area,

which is filled with trendy cafes and fashionable clothing shops.

 


The Post Office

Central to the remarkable Irish rebellion of 1916, the Easter Rising, this was the building in

which an Irish republic was declared. There are still shell marks visible on the building front.

St. Stephen's Green

Dublin's most famous park, this charming green space in the middle of the city is highly

popular as a meeting place and recreation area for the locals.

 


Trinity College

The oldest institution of higher education in Ireland, the college's most famous attraction is

the magnificent Book of Kells, the best known illuminated manuscript in the world. You can

also take a walking tour of the campus or watch the Dublin Experience, a popular multi-media

show detailing the history of the city.

 


Trinity College

Located at St. James Gate, this is part of the famous Guinness Brewery which has been

located in Dublin since 1759. A tour takes you through exhibits about the history of the

Guinness brewery and the growth of the stout brand around the world.

Collins Barracks

Reputed to be the oldest and largest military barracks in Europe, this is now home to the

National Museum's collection of decorative arts, with fine examples of silver and furniture.

Phoenix Park

this large park is considered the largest urban park in Europe. It houses the Dublin Zoo, which

is the third oldest in the world, the President's Residence and an obelisk-shaped monument

known as the Phoenix Column.

 


The National Gallery of Ireland

Ireland's national art museum is home to a highly representative collection of European Art.

Italian Renaissance, French classical and modern, 17th Century Dutch and 18th Century English schools of art are exhibited here.

The Old Jameson Distillery

the Irish love for good drinking is well-represented in Dublin. The Old Jameson Distillery was

started in Smithfield in 1780, and today, you can visit the old buildings for a tour of how whisky

was made here.
