Located 15 km away, the
bustling town of Padova is a major tourist draw in the region, offering
such historical attractions as the Basilica of Saint Antony and the
University of Padova, where Galileo Galilei taught for 18 years.

structure in Abano, (parts of) the Cathedral date back to 971
AD.

Sundial
Covering much of the square to
the south of the Cathedral of San Lorenzo is this enormous sundial, which
was inspired by the amateur astronomer Salvador Conde', and was built in
1996.

Montegrotto Terme
This town was known as San
Pietro Montagnon until 1934, and together with Abano Terme, was the home of
a vast spa complex dating back to the Roman era.

Hiking in the Euganean Hills
The hills of the Terme Eugene
gives the region much of its rugged beauty, and hiking over the rocky
terrain surrounding Abano is a popular activity with the more active
visitors. Check with the Tourist Office for pamphlets listing the best paths
through the hills.
