Church of Santo Spirito

The church of Santo Spirito is well-known for its beautiful gothic-style architecture surmounted by a rose window, with gothic arcades, fantastic stucco work and a baroque interior.

Duomo Cathedral

This cathedral was built in the 12th century and has gone through numerous restorative reconstructions throughout the years. The bell tower, or campanile, is graced with a series of Catalan Gothic single lancet windows, with a tower which was never completed. The beautiful interior rests under an impressive wooden ceiling, the tie beams adorned with scenes from the lives of various saints.

The Valley of The Temples

Valley of the Temples is the most renowned attraction in Agrigento, a large archeological site containing the remains of various Doric temples dating from the 5th century B.C., such as The Tempio di Giunone (Juno),Tempio della Concordia (Concord), Temple of Castor and Pollux (Dioscuri), Tempio di Ercole (Temple of Hercules), and Tempio di Giove (Jupiter).

Regional Archeological Museum

The 18-room museum holds numerous interesting findings from Agrigento and the surrounding region, including an outstanding collection of Attic vases, the famous Crater of Dionysus & the marble statue of Ephebus of Agrigento.

Church of San Nicola

This church, constructed in the 13th century, is made of volcanic rock taken from ruins of the Temple of Zeus. The second chapel to the left contains the Roman sarcophagus of Hippolitus and Phaedra, much loved by Goethe during his stay in Agrigento.
