Alghero: Things To See & Do
|
Beaches
The beaches of Alghero are
the town's popular attraction, particularly during the summer months,
when city residents flee to the seaside for a holiday.
|
|
| Old Town
Alghero's old town is well
preserved, and is still mostly enclosed in stout town walls. Apart from
the usual charms of any city's old town - picturesque scenes, narrow,
cool streets, quiet curches and all - Alghero's old town is also known
for being home to the towns artisans, who work the local coral material.

|
Eating
As befits a fishing town,
the seafood in the local restaurants is excellent. The local cuisine has
a hint of Spanish, with paellas, lobster alla catalana and other such
dishes on offer, but do try the local dishes too!
|
|
| Trenino Verde
This Little Green Train, as
the name translates to in English, is the best way to see the beautiful
Sardinian interior, as it passes through some of the most scenic
mountain country on the way to and fro between Nuoro, Bosa, Sassari, Alghero,
Sassari , Palau, Cagliari and Arbatax.
