Petra: Things To See & Do

Petra

Petra

There is no attraction more famous in Jordan than the mesmerizing red city of Petra. Carved out from the rock of a deep gorge by the Nabateans, it is best known for its appearance in the Hollywood blockbuster, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. The most famous building in Petra is Al-Khaznehis, or the Treasury, but the rest of the city, especially El Deir, or the Monastery, is worth exploring. In 1985, it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
