Beaches
The main reason people
go to Cherating is for the beaches - Chempedak beach, Chendor Beach
and Balok Beach, all of which offer fine sands, clear waters, watersports
and generally everything you'd expect at a beach. The area is also
known for its resort, of which the most famous is undoubtedly Club
Med, as that was the first resort that ever set up shop in Cherating.

Cherating Turtle Sanctuary
Built in 1997 and operated
by the Fisheries Dept and the Pahang State Government, this protected
area carries out research into sea-turtle hatching. Volunteering at
the sanctuary is a popular activity for local youths, and during the
turtle-landing season. the beaches are regularly patrolled to spot,
guard and conserve the new turtle nests.
