Desaru Beach
The main reason people
go to Desaru is for the beach, which is one of the best in the state.
The gray-gold sands stretch for about 25 km and is bordered (where
there are no resorts) by lush tropical rainforest. One of the most
popular ways to see the whole stretch is by horseback riding.

Tanjung Pengelih
This little town is best
known for the museum where relics of World War II are kept. The museum
once served as the British Operation Centre. Along the Kota Tinggi-Mersing
trunk road, you may also see white pillboxes - these were used by
the British for defense against the Japanese.

Kota Tinggi Waterfall
One of the more popular
beaches on the mainland, this one is located about 6.5 km from Lumut
and is popular with picnickers and swimmers. There are also nearby
chalets for rent. You can take a bus to the falls from the Larkin
Bus Terminal, but expect to pay an entrance fee.

Fireflies watching
at Sungai Lebam
Firefly-watching is one
of the main attractions of the Kota Tinggi area, and going out on
clear nights to see the blinking lights is a popular activity not
just with visitors but with locals as well.
