Ironman Langkawi Malaysia Triathlon 2008

23 February

Lotto Ironman Malaysia takes place on Langkawi, a popular island resort destination in Malaysia. It's tough not because of the course, which consists of a very warm swim, a rolling bike and a relatively flat run course. It's tough because it can get really hot, especially during the run. How hot? In 2001 temperatures that reached 43 degrees Celsius (which is very close to 110 degrees Fahrenheit for anyone who thinks in those terms).

Langkawi Water  Festival 2008

Langkawi Water Fest is a three-day event which promises more than 50 exciting water sports and beach games. Top prizes and lucky draws await participants and bystanders for the event.

Islanders Music Dance Festival Langkawi 2008

28 - 30 November

A showcase of Malaysia’s ethnic art and culture. Stealing the show were the Mah Meri dancers who perform their unique Mah Meri fertility ritual, complete with a 'pregnant' dancer. The dance, accompanied by an enchanting melody of traditional music, is traditionally performed during wedding ceremonies of the Mah Meri, a tribe from Pulau Carey in Selangor.
