Raptor Watch Week 2008

8 - 9 March

An annual programme at Tanjung Tuan that will witness the homeward-bound migration of thousands of raptors (predatory birds) to the northern hemisphere. Visitors will also enjoy the beauty of flora and fauna in the oldest rainforest in Peninsular Malaysia.

 

Malacca River Festival

1 - 8 April

A festival held at the Malacca River filled with entertainment and activities for the whole family, plus stalls selling a variety of goodies from food to craftworks.

 

11th International Malay Archipelago Drums Festival (Invitational)

9 - 16 April

Drums take centrestage in this fascinating event. Enjoy the rhythm of various types of drums and other traditional musical instruments from around the region. This annual festival is brought to you by 24 cultural troupes that have been specially invited from countries such as China, Indonesia, Portugal and many more.

 

Malacca International Endurance Ride

11 - 13 April

This events involves extreme horse race which includes 120km, 80km and 40km category. Participation are from all over the world and visitors will be able to join in various activities which include pony ride, learning about horses and more.

 

Melaka Tourism Streets Carnival 2008

24 - 31 May

Visitors will be treated to a variety of attractive events and programmes, such as a treasure hunt, food fair, boat decorating competition, fishing challenge, an exhibition, etc.

 

Malaysia Mega Sale Carnival

24 May - 3 August

Malaysia's annual sales carnival promises plenty of bargains and special discounts on lots of items from designer wear to electrical items to lighten the hearts (and pockets) of shopaholics nationwide.

 

Fiesta San Pedro

23 - 29 June

This annual festival celebrates the Portuguese community in Malacca with traditional games, cultural performances, a food fair and a best-decorated boat contest. Venue: Portuguese Settlement.

 

50 Years of Nationhood Merdeka Celebrations

31 August

Malaysians from all over the country get together to celebrate this historic event commemorating the country's 51st foray into the state of independence, marked with a host of activities including parades, exhibitions and fireworks displays.

 

Melaka International Songket and Batik Fest 2008

5 - 7 September

The finest songket and batik in the country will be showcased in this festival. Visitors will be able to see demonstrations of traditional songket weaving and batik making. Works of the best songket and batik designers of Malaysia and from other countries will also be on display.

 

Fiesta Santa Cruz

13 - 15 September

A festival celebrated by the Portuguese community in Malacca with plenty of cultural shows and activities at Malim Hill.

 

Malaysia International Gourmet Festival

1 - 30 November

The country's premier gastronomic event comes to town with some of Malaysia's finest restaurants offering special promotions and exclusive menus for almost a month.

 

Malaysia Year End Sale Carnival

29 November - 4 January 2009

This sale carnival is a much-awaited event for shopaholics nationwide as big-name stores offer fantastic discounts and bargains.

 

Melaka Year End Celebrations

25 - 31 December

A year-end celebration to welcome the New Year. Among the events that will be organised are cultural shows and performances by popular Malaysian artistes, Melaka Tourism Festival 2008 lucky draw and fireworks display.
