KL Sentral
KL Sentral is massive. From afar, you can see several towering structures
shooting up to the sky. This ‘City-within-a-city’ is envisioned to be a fully
functional world class city by 2015 and as the largest commercial development in
Kuala Lumpur, KL Sentral would certainly remain in the minds of those who visit
it.
At its centre is the Stesen Sentral, Malaysia’s biggest and busiest transit hub
that connects the city’s rail transportation networks. From here, you can
basically go to other city’s locations, the suburban districts, other major
cities in the Peninsular Malaysia and to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
At a glance, you would be right to notice how similar the design of the station
is to the airport. That’s because it has the same architect who designed the
KLIA, Dr. Kisho Kurokawa.
Thousands of people pass through Stesen Sentral everyday. The KTM Intercity uses
Stesen Sentral as its main local and international rail point with daily
services to the north and south of the peninsular as well as being part of the
TransAsia Railway Network to Vietnam and China. Then there is the popular and
highly used KTM Komuter, a train service that connects KL to suburban towns such
as Seremban and Rawang. The LRT network also passes through on its way to
connect the city dwellers to major points in Kuala Lumpur. For those who take
the ERL from the airport, this would be the end of their rail journey. Form
here, they can catch a bus or taxi to get to other parts of KL. Just a few
minutes away is the KL Monorail line that would take you to various hotspots in
the city such Bukit Bintang and Jalan Sultan Ismail.
A special feature of Stesen Sentral is the presence of the KL City Air Terminal
(KL CAT) that is regarded as part of the KLIA and recognised by the
International Air Transport Association (IATA) as a city destination. Travellers
on selected airlines no longer have to lug around their luggage as luggage
check-in service is available at KL CAT. Airlines that provide this service
include Malaysia Airlines, Emirates Airline, Royal Brunei Airlines and a few
others. Soon, passengers from all airlines that fly into KLIA would be able to
use this service.
Stesen Sentral itself has a few retail shops, F&B outlets and commercial banks’
branches. However, just next door, you will find a much more extensive
collection of shops at the newly opened Sooka Sentral. Aside from restaurants
and shops, there will also be a fitness and spa centre and a business centre.
For more choices, you can take a short walk to Brickfields or Little India for
hot and spicy curry, thosai or a cool glass of lassi. You can also find shops
selling Indian fabrics and clothing, herbs and spices and costumer jewellery.
Anyway, with such an extensive network of rail systems, you can easily get to
other points in the city.
Two international class hotels dominate the skyline of KL Sentral. One of them
is the Hilton Kuala Lumpur, a name that is synonymous with international class
and exclusive luxury. This 5-star hotel is the benchmark property of Hilton
International Asia. You can certainly see the quiet elegance and exquisite
attention to details when you step into its high ceiling, spacious lobby. The

of the staff. From a starting rate of RM438 (USD125), you would be assured of an

The most required elements of a business meeting would be privacy and
exclusivity.

their guests have whatever their need to make their stay memorable. One of the
most accessible hotels in the city with it being located next to Stesen Sentral,
