Mid Valley City

Undoubtedly one of the most happening development areas in KL, the skyline of this part of Kuala Lumpur is dominated by one of the biggest of shopping malls in Malaysia, the Midvalley Megamall, and its more upscale neighbour, the Gardens Mall. Straddled by the upscale neighbourhood of Bangsar and Bukit Pantai, as well as Brickfields, Mid Valley City is pretty much a destination on its own. Boasting three hotels of different star ratings, namely, Cititel Mid Valley, the Boulevard Hotel and the 5-star Gardens Hotel, Mid Valley City is also home to hundreds of offices as well as serving as the headquarters for many large corporations.

One of the most, if not the most, visited malls in Malaysia, this four storey behemoth of retail outlets filling the needs of almost everything imaginable, plus rows and rows of business and commercial areas flanking it that operates under the Midvalley Boulevard. One can almost find any excuse to be here all day long and still finds that there’s much more to discover in this commercial paradise at the edge of the KL city. Aside from major retailers, there is also the GSC Cinema for the latest movie viewing in a plush surrounding and a really large gym, the California Fitness that boasts of a well-equipped fitness centre complete with an outdoor swimming pool.

Hunger is easily remedied at Mid Valley City. You will find many restaurants, fast food and local outlets offering hundreds of different kind of dishes. You can actually find most types of food at the two malls, really. The adjoining Northpoint, two towers of offices and residences, you would also find several fine dining outlets that are great if you’re looking for a place to get away from the crowd. And yes, it can get really crowded especially during weekends and when there are exhibitions being held at the Exhibition Centre on the uppermost floor of Mid Valley Megamall.

Shops, shops and more shops! For the shopaholics, this is paradise. For the ones paying for the purchases, it can be quite hellish. There are international brands such as Marks & Spencer, Dorothy Perkins and Zara, as well as homegrown outlets such as Metrojaya and Kamdar. You can also find hundreds of affordable items at many of the smaller specialty outlets. Head on to Gardens for international fashion brands such as Guess, Massimo Dutti, Karen Millen and BOSS Hugo Boss. And if you have time, catch at a movie at GSC Signature Cinema. It’s the epitome of luxury movie watching with oversize seats and plush interiors.

Getting to Mid Valley City is a breeze. You can take the bus or taxi, hop on to the KTM commuter train that has a station right next to Mid Valley Megamall, or take the LRT to the nearest station, Universiti or Bangsar stations and use the feeder bus to get to Mid Valley City. Parking is also quite easy with thousands of spaces available.

Being the absolute one-stop destination and located in a very strategic location, it’s not a wonder that many tourists choose to stay in the Mid Valley City area. Almost everything they need can be found here, it’s easy to get food and easy to get around as well.
