Subang Jaya
Situated on a former oil
palm plantation, Subang Jaya has risen to be the second largest residential
towns in the Klang Valley right after Petaling Jaya. Connected to the city
centre via the ever busy Federal Highway, Subang Jaya is now entire township in
itself and was granted the municipality status in 1997. More than a million
people live within this 70sq km area with thousands of homes ranging from the
low-cost flats to million dollar mansions. Subang Jaya also includes the
neighbouring areas of Puchong and Seri Kembangan.
Subang Jaya is indeed a symbol of successful suburban development project that
began in 1974. From a handful of houses and shophouses, it is now the choice
locations for thousands of companies who seek cheaper rentals but a locale that
allows them and their customers’ easy access. From the older areas of SS15 to
the newer locations in Puchong and USJ, you can literally see rows upon rows of
new buildings being constructed to accommodate the ever-growing demand for
space, together with numerous housing projects.
Food outlets are in abundance in Subang Jaya. Just think of a particular type of
food and you could probably find it here. Amongst the more popular locations
would be the mature neighbourhood of SS15 or the newer and hipper USJ Taipan.
Almost every month, a new outlet would open its door to complement the older
ones. One of them would be the Country Barn, which offers authentic Malaccan
food as well as live bands and a dancing floor for those who feel like kicking
off their shoes and relax after meal. You certainly don’t need to go to KL for
some clean entertainment in Subang Jaya.
The oldest shopping mall in Subang Jaya would be the Subang Parade. It’s still
very popular with the local residents who seek a comfortable, traffic-free mall
to spend their weekend in. Then there is Carrfour next door, together with newer
malls such as The Summit Subang USJ and local hypermarkets, Mydin and Giant. The
USJ Taipan area also has boutiques and individual outlets selling items ranging
from the latest fashion to pots and pans. The latest addition would be the
Digital Mall@nineteen and another Carrefour located in a new serviced
condominium building in USJ 19. Another one worth mentioning would be the
massive complex of the Sunway Pyramid, a shopping mall in the adjacent
neighbourhood of Bandar Sunway.
For those who would like to escape the hustle and bustle of KL city yet be close
enough to take the short drive to town, Subang Jaya would be a great
alternative. For a relaxing stay, check out
