Rotterdam Zoo
(Diergaarde Blijdorp)
Rotterdam's most
popular attraction, the zoo is considered one of the best and
most naturalistic in the Netherlands, and houses a wide variety
of animals, from salt water fishes to gorgeous Asian tigers.

Cubic Houses (Kubus
woningen)
This houses,
designed by Piet Blom in the 1970s as a housing project, must be
some of the most unusual in the world, with their disorienting
angles and shapes. They are, however, occupied as intended and
are apparently quite comfortable. There's a show unit open for
those who want to wander around the inside and see what it would
feel like to live in a house straight out of a Cubist's dream.

Euromast
Standing 185 metres
tall, this tower is the highest point in all Netherlands and was
built in 1960 in honour of the decennially organised Floriade,
the greatest flower and garden show in Europe. From the summit
of the tower, you can get a spectacular view over the
surrounding countryside.

Architecture
When much of
Rotterdam city was devastated during the second World War, the
architects of the time took the opportunity to rebuild according
to the latest ideas of the time, producing a city with some of
the most unusual architecture in the Netherlands. Just a few
examples of the architecture from that time are the Kiefhoek
housing complex, the gallery flats of the Bergpolder district
and the buildings around the Mathenesser square.
