River mouth in the east to Pioneer Park in the west. Along its length,

Pukekura Park
This world renowned 52ha
park is a
pleasant place to spend a warm day, as well as being the home to some of
the city's more popular attractions. Among its many draws are the
fernery, the garden estate area of Brooklands, Brooklands Zoo and the
historic colonial hospital The Gables. There's also the delight of
boating on the lake, picknicking, watching the cricket matches and other
such comfortably relaxing pastimes.

Govett-Brewster Art Gallery
One of the country's
best contemporary arts museum, this gallery is also noted for housing
the collection of modernist filmmaker and kinetic sculptor Len Lye.

| Wind
Wand
Perched on a viewing
platform overlooking the Tasman Sea, this unique art work stands 45
metres high, looking for all the world like a wobbly radio antenna.
Created by the artist Len Lye, this sculpture has generated a fair
amount of controversy, but love it or hate it, the sight of the Wand
swaying in the breeze is an inescapable feature of New Plymouth's
skyline.
