Lake Manapouri
Often refered to as ‘the most

West Arm Manapouri Power Station
The building
of this power plant was the centre of controversy, as environmentalists
feared its construction would destroy the beauty of the lake. Unusually,
the problem was solved by building the station underground, a massive

New Zealand’s commitment to environmental protection, and visitors are
welcome at the unique facility.
