Te Papa National Museum
Te Papa, which takes on the meaning of "Our Place" in Maori, is New Zealand's National Museum displaying various exhibits reflecting the people of New Zealand, their cultural identity as well as the country's geographic history. The museum also showcases exhibits on art, history and natural environment of New Zealand as well as other permanent exhibitions, including the Time Warp display, which allows visitors to travel back in time to New Zealand's prehistoric age.

Parking for the disabled is available near the main entrance of the museum. Manual wheelchairs are also available via booking. Hearing aid loops and audio guides are available in English, Maori, German and Japanese for the visually impaired. All toilets at Te Papa is equipped with wheelchair access.

By Car: Travelling south into the city, take the Aotea Quay exit from the Wellington motorway. Continue driving along Waterloo, Customhouse, and Jervois Quays, which will lead directly into Cable Street

Karori Wildlife Sanctuary
Karori Wildlife Sanctuary houses endangered native birds and other wildlife, and is located within minutes from downtown Wellington. The Wildlife sanctuary is surrounded by a unique predator fence where it functions to protect the wildlife and ensures that the forest is regenerated to its former glory.

By Car: If driving from the city, take Glenmore Street, turn left at the Kelburn viaduct mini-roundabout and continue through the Karori Tunnel. Waiapu Road is the first left immediately after exiting the tunnel.
By Bus: Karori 12 and 17 (peak hours only), Mairangi 22 and 23 (every half hour), 21 Wrights Hill (hourly Monday-Friday), 18 Karori (every half hour, Mon-Fri). Alight at the first stop after the Karori Tunnel; the Sanctuary Visitor Centre is a five-minute walk from the bus stop down Waiapu Road.

By Bus - Take the bus number No 12 Karori Bus at Lambton Quay and alight at the Centennial Entrance gates on Tinakori Road. By Foot - Walk from The Terrace through Bolton Street Memorial Park, through the Lady Norwood Rose Garden to the Main Garden.
