Inferno Metal Festival

19 – 22 March

A showcase for talented but little-exposed Norwegian metal bands, this popular music festival is quickly becoming an institution in the yearly music events calendar.

 

Exxon Mobil Bislett Games

6 June

The best athletes in the world come to Oslo for the Exxon Mobil Bislett Games at the Bislett Stadium, one of the biggest Golden League meetings of the year. The Golden League series always attracts the very best athletes and the biggest names in the world.

 

Helly Hansen Færder'n

13 June

Starting out from Oslo Harbour, this spectacular and very popular event, which is reckoned to be the world's largest overnight regatta, sees more than 1100 boats taking part in a race to the Færder lighthouse and back.

 

Norwegian Wood Festival

12 – 15 June

One of the largest and most popular music festivals on the calendar, this event draws top names from around the world to perform in Oslo's Frognerbadet park, not to mention a showcase of excellent but little known local talent.

 

Middelalderparken -       Øya Festival

In the pleasant Middelalderparken, three stages are set up for an impressive line up of both local and international musicians to play for 4 days to an appreciative audience.

 

Oslo Jazz Festival

11 – 17 August

The city resounds to the sound of jazz during this weeklong, internationally known festival. With more than 100 performances held in venues throughout the city and some of the top names in the genre regularly turning up to play some tunes, there's plenty to see and listen to!

 

Oslo World Music       Festival

28 October - 2 November

Performers from Algeria, Ireland, Cuba and a dozen other countries trek to Oslo to perform for the annual word music festival.

 

St Hans: Midsummer  Eve at the Folk    Museum

23 June

Midsummer wedding, bonfire, folk music, dancing and outdoor barbecue are just one of the activities that is celebrated at the museum.
