Piata Revolutiei Square

This is Bucharest's most famous symbols, for it was here that the 1989 revolution was held.

You can still see signs of the bullets which hit the royal palace during the revolution.

The Palace of Parliament

Built during the Ceausesu regime, this imposing monument is considered the second largest administrative building in the world. Once intended to house every division of the communist

state, it is now home to the Romanian parliament.

The Arc

Built to commemorate Romania's war dead, this elegant arc stands 25 metres high and is

decorated with sculptures made by pre-eminent artists such as Ion Jalea, Constantin Medrea

and Constantin Baraschi. A staircase allows visitors to climb to the terrace at the top of the arc.

 


 

Cismigiu Park

Located right in the heart of Bucharest, this is the city's oldest park and a great place to relax

and see the locals. There are occasionally concerts on Sundays in the Gazebo.

 


Village Museum of Folk Art

An outdoor museum over 1 square mile in size, this fascinating attraction features over 200 preserved buildings from every era of Romanian history and geography.

Romanian Peasant Museum

An excellent complement to the Village Museum of Folk Art, this historic attraction displays tools, costumes, appliances and other instruments once used by the hardworking Romanian peasantry.

National Art Museum

This impressive collection holds over 70,000 works of art, including pieces from major Romanian artists as well as works by major western masters.

Old Court Church

The oldest church in Bucharest, this building was built in the Wallachian style of the 16th century. For over three centuries, it was the coronation place for the Wallachia ruling princes. Nowadays,

it is best known for its beautiful interior frescoes and murals.
