Las Ramblas

Spain's most famous street, this wide tree-lined boulevard stretches almost 2km long and is

dotted with hotels, cafes, restaurants, news stands. It stretches from Plaça Catalunya all the

way to the harbour. This name comes from the Arabic word for riverbed.

 


 

National Art Museum of Catalunya (Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya)

The city's foremost cultural storehouse is a showcase for every form of artwork native to

the Catalonian region.

Picasso Museum (Museu Picasso)

Appropriately placed in the city where the 20th Century's most famous artist practiced his

craft as a young man, this museum a major collection of Picasso's, including some of his

famous works.

Temple Of the Sagrada Familia (Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família)

It is the last, and perhaps most extraordinary, of the designs of the Catalan architect,

Antoni Gaudí. Rich with Christian symbolism and the quintessential symbol of Barcelona, this magnificent structure is yet to be completed after more than a century of work.

Opening Hrs:

October to February, 9am to 6pm. March to September, 9am to 8pm. The Temple is closed on the afternoons of December 25 and 26, January 1 and 6.

Pricing:

Individual admission: EUR 8 Individual admission + Guided Visit: EUR 8 + EUR 3.50. A lift takes visitors 65 metres up on the Passion Façade. Fee: EUR 2.

Barcelona Cathedral (Cathedral La Seu)

Its golden sandstone walls towering above the old city walls, this Gothic structure as the

seat of the archdiocese. You can also see the remains of roman Walls at the Placa de la Seu

outside the cathedral.

Montjuic Hill

The Montjuic hill (213 m) is a nice area for a stroll above the city. It includes the Castell de

Montjuic, the Olympic village and the Archeological Museum. The funicular and cable car ride

to the top of Montjuic is a great way to see the whole city.

Getting Here:

Metro Espanya, line 1 (red) and line 3 (green) then one can take the mechanical stairs or take bus number 50 with the same metro ticket.

 


Houses of Passeig Gracia

The Passeig de Gràcia is Barcelona's most elegant avenue and one of the best architectural

walks in the city. is also home to Gaudí's most accomplished work and one of Modernism's

best examples, the Pedrera or Casa Milà at number 92. See the master works of the daring architects who dominated the cityscape of the late 19th and early 20th Century era.
