THE biggest event of the year, bar none, the Canary
islands erupt with colour, noise and laughter as
everyone dances, sings, feasts and otherwise has as
much fun as possible.

Las Fallas

A
traditional festival to welcome the spring, the
massive entertainments centre around three fabulous
statues erected in districts around the city, which
are burnt at the end of the festivities.

St Johns Day |
23 -
24 June
La Cala, Central Market and Old Town areas are the
place to be for this traditional festival, when
bonfires of St. John are burned.

Moors and
Christians |
Last week of September
Another major traditional festival, this one
commemorates the expulsion of the Moorish empire
from Iberian soil, and involves three days of
festivities culminating in a spectacular parade.
Definitely worth a look-see!

Second Friday of November
The town's patron saints, El Virgen del Suffrage and
Jaime Apostle, are honoured with a long running
festival, which offers the chance for everything
from feasting to partying.
