| Mezquita
Formerly the main mosque
of Moorish Cordoba, a Christian Cathedral was built within the original
structure in the 16th Century, cutting an odd and somewhat awkward
profile for this historical building.

Alcazar
Built in the 14th Century,
this fortress served as the headquarters for King Ferdinand and Queen
Isabella as they began their war to take Granada. Highlights are the
three towers and Moorish Baths located within.

Roman Bridge (Puente Romano)
This Roman bridge is
located near the Mezquita, and spans the Guadalquivir river. The current
bridge was mostly reconstructed and little of the original Roman
structure remains.

Jewish Quarter (Juderia)
House-owners in this
formerly Jewish quarter purposely leave their door ajar , practically
inviting passers-by to view the trees and flowers growing in their
private courtyards.

Conjunto Arqueológico Madinat Al-Zahra
The Moors under the first caliph of Al Andalus built this grand
administrative centre in the 10th Century. Most of it either lies in
ruins or have been reconstructed in modern times. When it was in use, it
was said to have had 400 houses within its walls. |
