Archaeological Walk (Passeig Arqueologic)

The town ramparts were first built by the Romans are still largely intact and encircle most of the town, apart from a section which was damaged during a French siege in 1809. A popular activity is to walk along these ramparts.

 


 

Church of St Peter of the Cock Crows (Esglesia de Sant Pere de Galligants)

This church on the north side of town is notably not only for its unusual name, but also for housing the city's archaeologicak museum.

 


Church of Saint Felix (Esglasia de Sant Feliu)

First begun in the 14th century, this is the most popular church in Girona and was built over the tombs of Saint Felix and Saint Narcissus, the patron saints of the city. The church is also home to eight Roman sarcophagi, which are embedded in the apse wall.
