Alhambra
The most lasting impression of
Moorish Spain for most people is made by the Alhambra. Originally built
as a fortress, beautiful additions with rich ornamentation by its
Moorish owners made it into a grand palace. The Court of Lions is
perhaps the most famous single feature of the palace, but all around,
there are beautiful inscriptions in Arabic calligraphy.

Cathedral and Royal Chapel
The Cathedral of
Granada is a renaissance structure with a gold and white interior,
marked by the era of conquest and treasure from the Americas. The Royal
Chapel located behind the cathedral is significant as the graves of
Queen Isabella and her husband King Ferdinand the two sovereigns
responsible for uniting Spain lie within this chapel. |
