Alcazaba
This fortress site has yielded
remnants of a Roman Theatre and a Roman citadel in the midst of Moorish
structures. A Palace above the citadel was first built by the Arab
invaders in the eleventh century and was the residence of Queen Isabella
and King Ferdinand for a time after they had conquered the city in the
15th Century.

Gibralfaro
Take a path through a series of
gardens and bougainvillea draped ramparts, up from the alcazaba and you
will come upon this castle, which has been restored to serve as a museum
today. It had been used militarily in the Civil War in 1936.

Cathedral
Missing a tower on its West Front,
the Cathedral is considered incomplete as a result. The 17th Century
Chapel is the highlight of the cathedral, featuring intricately carved
ornamentation.

Museo Picasso and Casa Natal Picasso
The
collection of Picasso paintings held by his daughter in law was sold to
the city at a comparatively affordable price, as she felt that there
should be a Picasso presence in the city of his birth. Picasso’s birth
house is within walking distance and features a collection of personal
effects related to the great painter. |
