Basilica of Our Lady of The Pillar (Basílica de Nuestra Señora del Pilar)

This basilica begun in the 16th century is an annual site of pilgrimage for the tiny statue of the Virgin of the Pillar (Virgin del Pilar) kept in the Holy Chapel. There is also a major festival in October, with parades, bullfights and fireworks, dedicated to the Virgin.

This Gothic-Mudejar church was begun in the 14th century and is impressive for its elegant baroque ornamentation. Among the many lovely features of the church is a fine collection of tapestries now kept in the church's museum.
