Helsingborg: Things To See & Do
|
Kärnan Tower
Standing on a ridge in
the heart of the city, this 100 foot tall tower is the symbol of
Helsingborg and was once the central tower and prison of Helsingborg
Castle, which was demolished in 1679. This tower is the only remaining
portion of the once great fortress, and is now popular for the grand
view offered from its summit.

Church of St. Mary (Mariakyrkan)
Begun in the 13th century
and rebuilt or remodelled at various times in its history, this church
is best seen for its striking interior, which is particularly pleasant
to behold when the sun shines through the stained glass windows.

Sofiero Castle (Sofiero Slott)
Located about 5 km north of
Helsingborg is one of the most famous castles in Sweden. Long a summer
residence for the Swedish royal family, the castle and the grounds are
now open to the public and is one of Helsingborg's most popular tourist
draws. The Rhododendron gardens are a particularly popular attraction in
summer, when the plants burst forth in a riot of colour.
