Linköping Cathedral
First begun in 1230
and only completed in in its present form in 1520, this cathedral has
been a major site of Christian worship for over 800 years and is the
major landmark of the town.

Linköpings
Castle (Linkoping Slott)
First begun in the
12th centyry, this castle was once the home of bishops, governors and
other illustrious personages; today it is the residence of the County-Governor of Östergötland,
and home to a museum dedicated to the town's history.

Grand Square (Stora Torget)
This square is the heart of the town, and a popular place to gather.
Though not particularly spectacular, it does boast a few interesting
features: a statue of of the mythical Folke Filbyter, and a signpole
pointing out Linkoping's numerous sister cities.

Kinda Canal
This canal runs from Lake Adunden in the south all the way through
Linkoping, and taking cruises along its length is a popular activity,
particularly to see the famous locks on the canal.

Air Force Museum
This museum is located at the same airfield where the first Swedish
aviator, Carl Cederstrom, founded his school for pilots in 1912. It has
a lovely collection of airplanes and artifacts from aviation history,
including the famous Spitfire and the Flying Barrel.

River
Stångån
Take a walk along this river, which has pleasant promenades along its
banks and bridges crossing the water.

Gamla Linköping
This open air museum is a popular place for both locals and visitors, as
it preserves a vision of Linkoping that is swiftly disappearing from
real life. A number of traditional buildings and sights are preserved
here, recreatiing a typical Swedish town of the past, though this one
comes with playgrounds, shops and other facilities.
