Royal Palace

One of the most ornate buildings in the rather subdued capital, visitors can walk through the

halls and apartment of the foremost family in Swden, as well as view the State Regalia of crown

and instruments of the King. There is also a charming changing of the Guard ceremony in the square before the palace.

Vasa Musuem (Vasa Museet)

Stockholm's most famous attraction, this museum houses the fascinating shipwreck of the 17th century warship, the Vasa. Once Sweden's most formidable war creation for its sheer hugeness,

 its history is told via an excellent multimedia exhibition, which not only details how it sank,

but the elaborate rescue and restoration efforts it took to retrieve the wreck from the bottom

of Stockholm harbour.

Nordic Museum (Nordiska Museet)

Housed in a renaissance style building, this museums includes exhibits from the everyday lives

of nobles, the bourgeoisie, and farmers of the past.

Skansen

The first open-air museum in the world, dedicated to pre-industrial Swedish country culture

Gamla Stan

Walk the cobblestoned streets of the oldest part of Stockholm; this is one of the few cities in

the world where you'll enjoy the rare sight of people fishing in the middle of a major metropolitan

area.

 


City Hall (Stadshuset)

Site of the annual Nobel ceremonies, the city hall built in the early 20th century in a Gothic/ Renaissance mixed style features a tower capped by the three crowns - the symbol of Sweden.

Entrance is only possible with tour. Tours: daily, 10am & 12.00 year around. 15 May  to 30 September, also at 2pm; June to August, also at 11am, 2pm and 3pm. Tower: from May to September daily 10am -4.15pm; also Saturdays and Sundays  in April.

Pricing:

Tour: Adults 60 SEK, students/pensioners 50 SEK, children 12-18 30 SEK, children under 12 free. Tower: Adults 20 SEK, children under 12 free of charge.
