Taipei Lantern Festival

24 February - 11 March

Whole route of Renai Road, CKS Memorial Hall and its neighboring areas is alighted this year as Taipei celebrates its annual Lantern Festival in style & grandeur, as usual, using a lot of lights, sounds, images and lamps to create an atmosphere with a combination of technology and tradition.

 

Yangmingshan Flower Festival

25 February - 31 March

The country's most beautiful landscape blooms with a kaleidoscope of colours during this popular festival to celebrate the wonders of nature.

 

Taipei Traditional Arts  Festival

April - June (tba)

The country's largest celebration of traditional music, drama, and dance is a massive annual event in Taipei.

 

International Dragon Boat Festival

19 June

Over a hundred teams from around the world compete in one of the sport's biggest competitions.

 

Ghost Festival

27 August

On the first day of the seventh moon, the gates of Hades are opened and the spirits are allowed a month of feasting and revelry in the land of the living. The 15th day of Ghost Month is the climax of this event, when great sacrificial feasts are set out in temples and in front of homes to appease wandering souls. On this day, paper money is also burned and lanterns floated on lakes and streams to deliver the dead.

 

Golden Horse Film Festival

One of the biggest film festivals in Asia, this event regularly attracts the worlds media, celebrities from both East and West and of course, hordes of movie fans.
