My best experience in China
was when i travelled from Shanghai to Beijing by train alone. The trip
took 12 1/2 hours and it crossed the Yellow River, the second longest
river in China. The train has three deck of couches. The lowest deck is
more comfortable but you need to pay extra.
The train is clean and you
will get unsurprisingly good hospitality from the service staffs in the
train. Foods can be bought in the train though more expensive. To save
your money, you can just bring a pack of instant mee and the hot water
can be obtained from the hot water tank at the back of each cabin. Light
will be switched off early at 10pm and soft music will be played along.
One thing to be cautious. Always sleep with your precious belongings
under your pillow because the couches are opened.
And the last advice, try to
avoid eating or drinking to much. You do not want to end up visiting the
toilet too often. It is very shaky and noisy inside (it's really a boo
boo train)! And Happy Holiday...! :)

My own experience in Tioman Island under Berjaya Holidays: take a
bigger Ferry. Do not try speedboats-its faster to reach the island
from the mainland, but during the big waves, the speed boat will
slow down, you can actually smell the engine smoke inside the
air-conditioned speedboat. Trust me-it's really not worth to try it
as it makes me nauseous and feeling like vomiting. Hope you'll have
fun in Tioman!

If
one or more persons are traveling together bypass the transfers that are
offered with packages and get a limo from the airport limo service
counters. Then you will be not first on last off the bus and if there
are at least 2 of you the price is sometimes cheaper.

Be
very careful driving country roads especially at Y intersections. Stay
at an old castle out of the main cities - there is much to explore on
the grounds and in the surrounding area.

Before you leave your hotel, be sure to take a matchbook or letterhead
from the stationery folder so you have the phone number and address of
where you are staying...There's nothing more frustrating than having to
search frantically for the address of your own hotel, or its phone
number, when you're wandering about in a new location!

When
staying in Paris for a week or more purchase the Carte Orange (you need
a passport sized photo) not the Visite Pass as it is cheaper and lasts
for the whole week for all public transport.

Pack
a clear plastic zip lock bag when you travel and use it as a carrying
case for the free map of the city that your hotel gives you when you
arrive. Open the map, fold it in half, and slip it into the bag so that
both sides of the map are visible. Zip it up, and now you have a
waterproof display of how to get around town. Your map won't fall apart
on you and you can still roll it up and tuck into your pocket or bag.

When
traveling to Italy always fly into Milan's Malpensa airport. It is so
much easier to pick up a car there, drive the country, see your sights,
and void the security risks at the train stations or Fumicino Airport in
Rome.

Going
on the Ring Road round the north of Brussels (there isn't one to the
south!) don't look for the names; follow the signs for the airport and
you can't get lost.

When
planning an outback adventure in Central Australia, rather than hiring a
quite expensive 4WD camper, consider a less expensive 4WD and buy or
hire an easy to erect tent and some camping gear. Use the latter when at
remote off-road locations .Otherwise use the on-site tents/cabins at the
many locations throughout the Red Centre. Far better mixture of creature
comforts and a much more comfortable trip, LESS EXPENSIVE! not to
mention SAFER!
PS. We loved it & so did our Pommy mates.

If
it's your first time in a city, take the tourist bus if one is
available. Stay on it for the entire round trip so you get a good idea
of where things are in relation to each other in that city. After you've
done the round trip, decide where you'll get off to visit the sites you
really want to see. I found the tourist buses in Paris, Barcelona and
Valencia, were brilliant!

For
the single or couple budget traveler to Shanghai, I recommend the
Airport bus, as it costs only RMB18 - RMB20 per pax to get to town. A
taxi ride to town would cost about RMB200 - RMB300.
However, you have to take care of your own bags, as the bus conductors
would most likely not help you with the bags. The bus ride is actually
very interesting, but you might have to try to get used to the smell
initially.

If
you are hiring a drive yourself car overseas do not trust the advice of
your Automobile Association as experience had taught me there are
countries you do not need an international license if you are going to
be there a short time always do your own research as it saves you money

When
going to Paris remember to take good shoes. All the streets in the
downtown area are cobble stone...after a few hours your legs will feel
like butter. Also if you go in March like we did...make sure and take
gloves, coat, scarf...the weather can change on you suddenly.

If you are traveling by air at peak times of year, it's worth
remembering that many airlines overbook up to 5% as a regular policy. If
you allow yourself a couple of days either side of your journey,
airlines will often accept 'volunteers' - people who are prepared to
slip on to the next available flight when their flight is overcrowded.
In return, many airlines will offer you a free upgrade, free use of
their lounges, a special cash payment and/or overnight airport hotel
stay and/or free meal vouchers. Ask at check-in whether the airline
requires any 'volunteers'.

If u
want to visit HK Disneyland from Singapore u can take the plane (Tiger
Airways to Macau) and go by ferry to HK .The trip is not only cheap but
you get to visit two places at one trip.

When
traveling in Spain and Portugal, even though the trains are fairly
reliable, the highways are very direct and you should rent a car. This
allows you to stop in small towns along the way you would miss in
traveling from town to town. You can also make your own schedules.
