Luggage - Get Exactly What You Want Online

If you're in need of new luggage, and if you've visited a department store, you've probably found that it's not easy to find *exactly* what you're looking for. There is a tremendous range of possibilities in luggage - from a little overnight bag to a virtual steamer trunk - and what brick and mortar store can carry the entire inventory of possibilities? However, you want what you want, and should be able to get the luggage that fits your needs perfectly, not just settle for whatever is in-stock at your nearby store.

Advantages of buying your luggage online

In order to have the pieces that exactly fit my luggage requirements, I became an online shopper. At first, I didn't believe that purchasing luggage online was really a workable option. I started with the intention only to research the possibilities because I had a few reservations about ordering online: mainly, 1) would shipping expenses be prohibitive; and 2) would the delivered item be what I expected it to be from the site description. Eventually, I did make an online purchase, and I was very happy with the outcome. However, there are some things to consider before you do buy luggage, or anything else, online.

When you buy online, you can expect certain advantages like a wider variety of choices and lower prices. But beware. Shipping is a cost that has to be factored into price comparisons. The good news is that most online stores realize the negative impact of shipping costs and will usually give free or reduced shipping for purchases above a given price. Luggage will most likely qualify for free shipping, the result being that you will probably pay less altogether than you would by shopping in a nearby store.

Another advantage to shipping is that rather than you having to haul your purchases home, they are delivered to your door. The main downside to all this is that there is a lapse of time between your purchase and the arrival of your luggage. Sometimes it can take a few weeks for delivery.

Searching for the perfect luggage

Begin your online search with a list or description of the specific features your luggage must have, and add some "dream" features you'd like to have if you can find them.
By having specifics in mind, you're search will be smoother and quicker. Specifics will help you focus your search and will help you recognize what you want when you see it.
Also, a list of specifics will help prevent you from making an impulse buy of something that really doesn't suit your objectives.

Here are a few basic things to consider:

  • How durable does the luggage need to be? Will you use it weekly for business trips or a couple times a year for family trips?

  • What material would be optimal; leather, cloth, hard- sided?

  • Should you have several small pieces to combine for various occasions, or have just a few large items?

  • Will it work better for to own a matched set, or would it be better to put together a variety of luggage items specific to your traveling needs?

Now that you've got a good idea of what to keep in mind regarding shipping and pricing, and you've identified specifically what you are seeking, you'll have a fruitful time shopping online. Check at least a few different web sites to ensure that you are getting the best value, and getting the shipping options that meet your timeline and budget. Equipped with the right gear, you will enjoy your travels even more than ever.
