Izmir Archaeological Museum

Learn more about the ancient city of Smyrna, as Izmir was once known, as well as many of the nearby ancient sites such as Ephesus, Larissa, Lebedos and Klazomenai.

Konak Square

The main square in the city and the administrative centre.

Izmir Clock Tower

This Ottoman-style clock tower in Konak Square is the symbol of the city, and was built to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Abduhamit II's accession to the throne in 1901.

Asansor (Street Elevator)

Much like its counterpart in Hong Kong, this street elevator is an attraction not so much for itself, but for the passage from Mithatpasa Street in the picturesque Jewish Quarter to the summit of the hill at Halil Rifat Pasa, which offers a lovely view.

Kordonboyu Promenade

This long promenade is a popular place with the locals, who come to jog or stroll along its length. There are also restaurants and shops along the promenade, making it a popular place to hang out.
