Dubai : A Shopping
Paradise

Planning to spend a few weeks’
vacation in Dubai? Make sure shopping
is one of the
highlights of your visit.
Dubai justly deserves its title as the ‘Shopping Capital of the Middle East’. It
offers every shopper a great experience with attractive prices because
everything is sold tax-free and the variety of products is staggering. The city
offers bargain hunters unbeatable value and you will find that most major brands
are available here and are often less expensive compared to if you were to buy
them from their country of origin. The choice for shoppers is unlimited and all
you have to do is keep browsing and looking at everything.
For a comfortable shopping experience, Dubai has many modern air-conditioned
shopping plazas furnished with escalators. For example, Mercato, the favorite
shopping mall for people who stay in Jumeirah, which is located on Jumeirah
Beach Road. The design of the shopping mall is quite unique and it will be a
great idea to bring your camera along. In my opinion, enjoying the mall
atmosphere is better than serious hunting for shopping except during the sale
season.
One of my favorite malls in Dubai is Lamcy Plaza. The mall located in Bur Dubai
area offers a great variety of fancy stuffs. I could not make my credit card
stay in my wallet because their seasonal discounts for branded items such as
Tommy, Guess, Dorothy Perkins, Benetton and many more are seriously good and I
am very sure that it will be the right place for you to shop as well.
Another must-go area for shopping is Burjuman Center which also located in Bur
Dubai, comprising around 300 shops. It has an array of labels from high-street
fashion such as Next, Esprit, Giordano, Diesel, to world class designer goods
such as Gucci, Louis Vuitton and Dior.
The
best place to buy a number of souvenirs in bulk for your family and friends is
The Museum. Although the name is such, it is not a museum at all; the place is
like a warehouse with air condition located in the Al-Quoz Industry Area. They
have a great number of souvenirs with cheaper prices and a wide variety like
t-shirts, carpets, handicrafts, shisha, silk, pashmina and silver items. Once
you start shopping there, you feel like you are on a treasure hunt because they
have many different rooms that you need to explore. I’m sure you will love this
place like I do and if you don’t want to bring cash, they also accept credit
card. But, one thing to remember if you plan to go there, just give them a call
to confirm whether their shop is open on the day you are planning to visit.
One more place to shop for souvenir seekers is in a big shopping mall called
City Center located in Deira with the concept of ‘one-stop shopping’. It is
close to Dubai International Airport and proves to be a good shopping place if
you are in-transit in Dubai. Cosmetics, perfumes and beauty products can be
found here. It also has a lot of fancy brands. Electronic gadgets also can be
found here such as cameras, mobile phones and computers. The place is usually
crowded, so be aware of the long queues during peak times.
Dubai is quite literally a shopper’s paradise! Shopping in Dubai is an
incredible experience... even people who claim to hate shopping can’t help but
be drawn into the experience.
