Auld Kirk of Ayr
Build around 1655, the Kirk,
or church, has long been central to Ayr's history. Apart from its
historical value, it is also known as the church where Robert Burns was
baptized. |

|
Wallace Tower
Built in 1834 to honor one of Scotland's greatest heroes, this tower is
probably the city's most visible landmark. Inside thet tower is a statue
of William Wallace, and the tower itself is the source of an unlikely
legend that Wallace was imprisoned once before making a daring escape. |

Loudoun Hall
One of the oldest buildings in Ayr, this hall was built for James Tait,
a wealthy merchant in the late 1400s and is considered one of the last
remaining examples of burgh architecture in Scotland. It once served as
the townhouse of the Campbells, but is now mainly used for functions, as
a home for various local societies and occasionally, for weddings. |

|
Maclaurin Gallery and
Rozelle House
Located a short distance
outside Ayr proper, these art galleries are the town's biggest cultural
storehouse, offering paintings, drawings and other works, with a focus
on pieces from the 20th century. The Rozelle House is also often used as
an exhibition centre. |
