Belfast Castle

Located at Cavehill, with its own sprawling estate. Built in 1870 as a private residence, it was handed to the Government in 1934 and is now open to the public.

Belfast Zoo

Located at Cave Hill, the zoo features a fine collection of rare animals from all around the world.

 Visitors with disabilities have free entrance to the Zoo. There is disabled access to all of the Zoo's exhibits and facilities. Appropriate toilet facilities are available and there are mobility scooters for hire.

Getting Here:

 Antrim Road, Belfast, BT15 5GR.  From the City Centre, Metro buses no.s 1a, 1b, 1c, 1d, 1e, 1f, (1g) and 2a all stop at the Zoo.

 


Belfast Botanic Gardens and Palm House

This garden is unique for its cast iron glass house, one of the earliest examples of its kind in the world. Warm weather plants such as banana, cash crops such as coffee and intriguing bird of paradise flowers can be seen in the midst of temperate Belfast. The outdoor garden features more typical roses and other temperate climate plants and flowers.


 

Ulster Museum

Local history museum with exhibits from over 9,000 years of Irish and Ulster history on display. Highlights include the treasure recovered from one of the ill-fated Spanish Armada ships, the Girona.

Ulster Folk & Transport Museum

The recent rural past of Northern Irish life is evoked in a setting of farmhouses with livestock reared pre-industrial age methods and equipment.
