Betws-y-Coed: Things To See & Do
|
Snowdon Mountain
The highest peak in England
and Wales, Snowdon stands at 3,560 feet and is a popular place for
climbing, hiking, and for the less athletically inclined, a relaxing
ride up the slopes on the Snowdon Mountain Railway, Britain's only rack
and pinion railway. At the summit, there is a licensed bar, cafe,
souvenir shop and a posting box for letters and postcards.

Conwy Falls
Just outside Betws-y-Coed
are these spectacular falls, which you can admire quite well from the
nearby Conwy cafe. The surrounding woodlands are noted for the wide
variety of animals and plants found, including such classic British
favourites as otters, polecats and wild ducks.

Conwy Castle
Impressive, intimidating and
forbidding, Conwy Castle is the stuff of medieval imaginings made real.
The castle was meant to be part of King Edward I's
'iron ring' of castles, built to control the rebellious locals. Though
now mostly in ruins, it is still possible to climb the walls for the
grand view they offer, and the castle itself is now a National Heritage
site.
