Charlecote Park, Museum
The home of the Lucy
family for over 700 years, the mellow brickwork and great
chimneys of Charlecote seem to sum up the very essence of Tudor
England. There are strong associations with both Queen Elizabeth
and Shakespeare, who knew the house well – he is alleged to have
been caught poaching the estate deer! |

Woodchester Park
The valley contains a
'lost garden' – the remains of an 18th- and 19th-century
landscape park with a chain of five lakes, fringed by woodland
pasture. An unfinished Victorian mansion (not NT), is open to
the public on specified days from Easter to October. There are
waymarked trails (steep in places) through delightful scenery.
