Yarmouth Castle

The last coastal fort built by Henry VIII, Yarmouth Castle was built shortly 1547 after a French force had sailed into the Solent and landed on the Isle of Wight, safe from the guns and forts on the mainland. The local militia defeated the French, but a weakness in the island’s defences had been revealed and a castle was then soon constructed at Yarmouth.

The Needles Park

The Isle of Wight's premier visitor attraction, The Needles Park is situated at Alum Bay overlooking the Island's most famous landmark, The Needles Rocks and Lighthouse. Dinasour Isle

Britain’s first purpose built dinosaur museum and visitor attraction, Dinosaur Isle displays many fossils and life size reconstructions of the island’s dinosaurs. Although a new building, the large collection of dinosaur, and other fossils form the island had its origins in 1819. The Isle of Wight is the most important site for dinosaur remains in Europe.
